Building for Leverage
Our tagline is "Software for leverage." But what does that actually mean?
The Leverage Mindset
Leverage is about getting more output for the same input. A lever lets you lift something heavy with less force. Good software should work the same way.
When we evaluate a feature or product idea, we ask: How much does this multiply what someone can do?
- A tool that saves 5 minutes once is nice
- A tool that saves 5 minutes every day is 30 hours a year
- A tool that eliminates a task entirely is infinite leverage
Examples of High-Leverage Software
Automation over assistance. Don't help someone do a task faster—eliminate the task. If something can be automated, it should be.
Templates over blank pages. Starting from zero is expensive. Good defaults and templates give people a running start.
Integrations over data entry. Every time someone types something that already exists somewhere else, that's a failure of software design.
What We're Building
At Modulo, we're focused on tools for specific workflows where we can provide real leverage:
- Automating repetitive tasks in business software
- Connecting systems that should talk to each other
- Turning complex processes into simple ones
The goal isn't to build the most powerful software. It's to build software that makes you more powerful.
